The man we're talking about is Joel Sartore, an American photographer
He is a founder of the National Geographic Photo Ark, which is his personal effort to document every species in captivity around the world
Prior to Photo Ark, for a decade he worked as a photographer for National Geographic Magazine
Joel's 13,000th species capture was critically a endangered bird, of which there are fewer than 1,000 individuals in the wild
He aims to capture 20,000 species through his cameras.
He hopes that his work will help to inspire action through education and prevent mass animal extinction.
Sartore possesses more than 1.6 million followers on Instagram and a best-selling series of Photo Ark books.
His iconic images have been projected onto the Empire State Building in New York and St. Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican.
He hopes that raising awareness of these species will help bring support to on-the-ground conservation efforts
