James Harden declines $47.3M contract, may sign new deal with  Philadelphia 76ers

James Harden seems to be in no mood to leave the Philadelphia 76ers.

The veteran guard opted out of his $47.3 million player option for the 2022-23 season on 29th June.

However, James is expected to sign a new contract with the Sixers once free agency begins

By opting out, Harden offers his team, 76ers, more financial flexibility to help improve the rest of the roster this summer

After the defeat against Miami Heat, Harden said that he's ready to have a pay cut in the short term for team's strength.

"I'll be here. I'll do whatever it takes to help this team continue to grow, and put us up there with the best of them," Harden said at the time.

The Sixers traded Ben Simmons, Seth Curry, Andre Drummond and a pair of picks to the Brooklyn Nets in February in order to land Harden.

The Philadelphia 76ers is determined to keep James Harden in the team jersey at any cost.
